Crookes Brothers have launched the next phase of its R15 billion Renishaw Coastal Precinct Project near Scottburgh on KwaZulu-Natal's South Coast.
This development aims to stimulate economic and community growth in the region, positioning the South Coast as a major hub of coastal development, akin to the North Coast's rapid expansion.
Renishaw Hills, the first of the precinct’s five interconnected nodes, has become a thriving lifestyle village, home to 350 residents living in 210 units with property values soaring by 60% since 2016. Once fully developed, Renishaw Hills will have more than 500 units.
The new phase includes a 10,000m² shopping centre, a hotel, a petrol station, a convenience store, fast-food drive-throughs, a private school, a light industrial zone, commercial spaces, and various housing options.
Future developments are set to include a church, a school, and Padel courts, with strong interest from international hotel groups for leisure facilities.
The project will maintain 80% of the 1,300-hectare site for conservation, embodying a model of sustainable development with biking and hiking trails.
The Crookes Brothers own approximately 1.800 hectares of land in the area, having diversified their business model from sugar producers to property developers over the past while following a drop in the prices.
The precinct's commitment to sustainability and community impact is reflected in its conservation efforts and plans for further recreational amenities.
The initiative, recognized by the Department of Trade Industry and Competition, is expected to create thousands of jobs and contribute significantly to the local economy.
